All Chapter members—pilots and non-pilots alike—are warmly invited to join upcoming sessions led by Robert Huxster. We’ll collaboratively explore realistic scenarios and share diverse flight experiences. The goal is simple: to ensure every person leaves having learned something new and valuable for their safety and enjoyment in aviation.

Experience “hangar flying” at its best with the EAA240 VMC/IMC Club! The Club hosts exceptional meetings that provide both visual flight rule (VFR) and instrument flight rule (IFR) pilots with crucial networking opportunities to exchange knowledge and experience. Using engaging, real-world flight scenarios, the program facilitates a free and open dialogue intended to improve individual awareness and technical skills. This unique, immersive setting allows every member to virtually pilot their way through challenging conditions, asking themselves, “What would I do? Our overarching goal is to cultivate a community dedicated to information-sharing, promoting safety, providing professional recognition, and continuously building pilot proficiency. Members consistently report high satisfaction and measurable improvements in their flying skills.

We are currently meeting every other month on the 3rd Thursday, 6:00 PM, EAA240 hangar. There may be additional ‘ad hoc’ meetings during prolonged no-fly days. Keep checking for date changes/additions, and for “VMC and IMC questions of the month”.

Full house at the Membership and VMC/IMC Meeting

Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 16th at 6:30pm.

The scenarios we will discuss at this meeting include: (IMC) ‘Trim Trouble”‘, uncommanded nose down trim, and (VMC) ‘”Bumpy Final”‘, strong turbulence at 300 ft agl on approach.. Both will raise questions about risk management and aeronautic decision making.

This event is also offered as an FAA Safety Team Seminar. To view further details and registration information for this seminar, click here.
