April Membership Meeting – 3D Printing Your Own Parts

Join us Monday, April 6th for our monthly membership meeting.
We have a full evening for you. First, join us at 5:30 (or a bit earlier, if you’d like to give us a hand setting-up) for a pancake breakfast trial run, where we’ll experiment a bit in preparation for this year’s pancake breakfasts. We’ll try a couple new menu options and recipe tweaks, so be prepared to try and score things.

We’ll wrap that up and around 6:30pm, with the meeting officially starting at 7pm.

We have a great topic for the evening. After a brief chapter update, we’ll have a sequel to our October 2025 meeting, where we discussed the tools and process for designing your own parts.
This time we’ll turn the dream and 3D model into reality!


We’ll go over the thought process and tools required to go from a 3D model, like the one above (designed live during the October meeting), to an actual part that you can hold in your hand. Not only that, but we’ll have a 3D printer there, so you can watch an actual part being built.

We’ll go over different materials and their pros and cons, especially for aviation use, before wrapping up (hopefully) just in time for our part to finish printing.

So bring your curiosity along and we’ll see you Monday evening. As usual, guests and visitors are always welcome!

Chapter Fly-Out to Greenwood Lake (4N1)

Join us Sunday, March 29th, for a trip to Greenwood Lake Airport (4N1) in West Milford, NJ. About one hour away, the airport is home to a Lockheed Constellation (story here), which we’ll take a look at after we arrive. After that, we’ll have brunch at the West Milford Airport Diner (menu on their Facebook page), before heading back to New Garden.

Meet at the EAA hangar at 8:00am for briefing and seat assignment, with a planned departure time of 8:30am. Check your e-mails for any last-minute departure time changes if weather conditions require it. 
Pilots, please let us know how many seats you have available when registering. Passengers, make sure you include your weight. If able, please chip in for fuel costs and/or buy your pilot a meal.

EAA240 VMC/IMC Club Meeting – Thursday, March 19th, 6:30pm

Sharing ideas, concepts and experiences in better flying.

Join us Thursday, March 19th for another IMC & VMC Club session, starting at 6:30pm. We’ll discus a few scenarios related to both VMC and IMC flying. All Chapter members – pilots and non-pilots – are invited to attend this session led by Robert Huxster. We’ll go through the scenarios and share flight experiences, with the goal being for all of us to learn something new. 

The scenarios we will discuss at this meeting include: (IMC) ‘Last Chance for Landing’,  engine failure at night in a Saratoga, and (VMC) ‘Upside Down’, based on an actual inadvertent flight into IMC. Both will raise questions about risk management and aeronautic decision making. Additional scenarios may be presented.

Bring your EFB, your experience, and your questions, and be ready to participate. All are welcome. You do not need to be an EAA member or instrument rated pilot to attend.
We will also be discussing how you can earn WINGS Credit.

No Fly-Out to LHV This Saturday

Join us for hangar flying instead

The weather put the kibosh on our Lock Haven (LHV) fly out plans. We can’t even fly past Philly as an alternate, so we decided to bring a bit of Philly to EAA 240 and give our hangar some quality time instead.
Join us for Philly Pretzels-n-Planes at the EAA 240 hangar on Saturday from 9:00am until 11:00pm for some fresh hot Philly pretzels and to take care of a few items in the hangar. Smothered in your favorite mustard, it just might be as good as the LHV trip to the Piper Museum. Well, that may be a stretch but at least we can meet, talk aviation and enjoy the gloomy morning with good company, hot pretzels, and a hangar that’s better fit for Spring!
