We conducted our “Flying in the Soup” contest on Feb 8th with six contestants preparing a veritable smorgasbord of great tasting delicacies. The soups were complemented with various specialty breads and of course the old standby oyster crackers. The top prize of a fine bottle of wine went to Bud Swenson with his entry of a bean soup.
We had lots of fun judging the soups and discussing all things related to aviation. In attendance were Max Hillegas, our EAA Ray Scholarship awardee and also a future applicant and hopefully an awardee Nicolas, who has been very active in the Civil Air Patrol. We look forward to these young men joining us on fly-outs and other chapter events.
A few announcements were made concerning upcoming events including fly-outs, scholarships, chapter finances, hangar improvements and VMC/IMC meetings. All these events are listed on the chapter website (eaa240.org). Members can also utilize the website to renew their memberships or allow their friends to join the chapter.
We are returning to our regular meeting schedule starting in March, with our next gathering being on Monday, March 3rd. Join us around 6:30pm for hangar flying, with our meeting starting at 7pm.
