Last fly-out of 2024!

It was a cold morning, but the sky was (mostly) clear and the winds were calm, so off we went! Four aircraft made the short flight to Lancaster Airport, where we were joined for lunch by a few more pilots that were part of a Grumman fly-in. Good chat accompanied the food, and we all shared aviation stories and plans for the new year. The departure from LNS was impressive, with excellent work by the tower controller who was able to clear for aircraft for takeoff while one was on a long final. The flight home was uneventful, putting an end to the 2024 fly-out season.

We’d like to thank our flight leads for all the time effort they put into organizing this year’s fly-outs. Some of them went as far as doing a reconnaissance flight before the fly-out to ensure everything would go smoothly. Talk about dedication! It was a tough year (fly-out wise) with plenty of cancellations due to TFRs, making planning these events that much tougher.
Many thanks to all the pilots that have participated in these events as well. We couldn’t do them without you! Plenty of passengers are grateful for being given the chance to fly, many of them taking to the air in a small airplane for the first time on one of our fly-outs.

With 2025 fast approaching, the events team is already working on the fly-out schedule for next year. Without the constant threat of TFRs, we hope to see less cancellations and more aircraft at each event. We’ll keep some of the classic destinations and plan on adding a few new ones. If you have any suggestions for destinations, or if you’d like to volunteer as a flight leader, drop us a line at events@eaa240.org.

Chapter Fly-Out to Lancaster, PA

Last fly-out of 2024! Due to the unfavorable Sunday forecast, we’re changing the date. Join us Saturday, December 14th, for a flight to Lancaster, PA. A short distance away, it’s a pilot favorite, great spot to practice some towered field operations, with a control tower who is always happy to have us as visitors.

We’ll meet at the Chapter hangar at 9:30am for briefing and seat assignments, with a scheduled departure time of 10:00am. LNS is 30nm NW of N57, which will take about 25 minutes of flight time.

After we arrive, we’ll have an early lunch at Fiorentino’s Italian Restaurant, before taking the scenic route back to New Garden.

Pilots and planes are always needed. Pilots, please let us know how many seats and how much useful load you have available. Passengers, remember to include your weight and contact information. Email us at events@eaa240.org.

As the date approaches, any event updates are provided by the Flight Leader and sent in emails, posted to our web site, as well as Facebook and Twitter. Please check for updates or changes.

The Chapter Events Team works hard to prepare, organize and execute on Fly-Outs. Your support and engagement is appreciated.

A great end to the year!

It was a great party to wrap up our 2024 meetings! EAA 240 members gathered for our December Holiday Party, enjoying good food and great company. Following the turkey, ham and other goodies, plus a good amount of sides, everyone headed over to the dessert table for a good follow-up.

After a good feast, our chapter secretary, Bud Swenson, took the stage as the Master of Ceremonies for raffling the prizes donated by the board members. Check out the pictures below to see some of the gifts that were offered.

Thank you for joining us, and additional thanks for all that contributed with food and who helped us with set-up and breakdown. Enjoy the end of the year, season’s greetings and see you all for more fun and adventures in 2025!
