Fly-Out Cancelled – TFR

Chapter Fly-Out – Cancelled – TFR

Secret Service imposed flight restrictions as a consequence of the President being home in Delaware have again forced cancellation of Saturday’s planned Chapter Fly-Out, – to Hazleton.

We’re already working on an additional Fly-Out for the weekend of Nov 5/6th….more details to follow.

The Chapter Events Team works hard to prepare, organize and execute on Fly-Outs. Your support and engagement is appreciated.

Tour Of New Castle Airport Tower

The Chapter Events Team has organized a visit and tour of the Control Tower at New Castle Wilmington Airport KILG. Chapter members will get to meet the tower controllers, see them in action, meet the tower management team, tour the tower, ask questions of the controllers etc. We expect the visit will last two hours, as small groups visit the tower operations area.

The Tour is at 10:30am, Tuesday, October 25th

Please click here if you wish to join us and can make that date & time. The size of the visiting group is limited, and we will request a further tour if there is demand. For those that have already indicated that they wish to attend – you need not reply here, I have you names (offered first to regular Chapter volunteers).

Questions? Please click the above link.

We will provide parking and access information nearer the date.

This event has been arranged by and for the membership of EAA Chapter 240. We are grateful to the management of Greater Wilmington ATCT for the opportunity.

Pancake Breakfast & Free Flights for Kids – Saturday!

Pancakes & Kids – Both Flying! Saturday, October 15th

For the final time this year the EAA240 hangar at New Garden Airport, Toughkenamon PA will see pancakes flying off the grill, and kids taking flight from the airport runway!

EAA Chapter 240’s Increasingly Famous Pancake Breakfasts are being served from 8am to noon, Saturday October 15th. Our freshly cooked pancakes, eggs, sausage and potato breakfasts are still just $8, including coffee and OJ. All funds raised go to the Chapter Flight Training Scholarship funding for 2023 – a great cause as we look to promote and sponsor aviation amongst local youth (EAA240 is a not-for-profit organization).

Weather and flight restrictions permitting, we’ll also be offering Free Flights For Kids – as part of the national EAA Young Eagles program. We at EAA240 have flown over 100 kids so far this year, providing a unique flight experience and bringing smiles to many faces!

Fly-In or drive-In, join us Saturday, October 15th for a fun family morning of aviation and good foods, amongst good company! We’ll be looking for you! Please share this invitation with your family, friends and colleagues.

Hangar Happenings This Weekend

Members attending the October Membership Meeting will recall I mentioned the use of the Chapter Hangar this weekend – for very special members event.

Sarah Gault and Thorne Harkin are getting married Saturday at the 240 Hangar, with a large group of guests, family and friends. We’ve worked to prepare the hangar facility for them this week as they will hold a rehearsal, and a catered-dinner for invited guests Friday evening at the hangar, and the main service will be Saturday.

On Saturday, buses will transport the wedding party to their late afternoon and evening celebrations in Wilmington.

Our congratulations to Thorne and Sarah!

At the hangar, we’re expecting chair deliveries this week, and the decorating of the hangar for the dinner and service. The two existing 240 member plane builds are aware and involved in the planning and preparations for this very special event.

NOTE to CHAPTER MEMBERS : Chapter activities at the hangar for Friday & Saturday are cancelled (please), with no member access to the hangar except for emergency needs, and with the Fly-Out Briefing occurring Saturday morning at the FBO and airport apron (please). Chapter members – please DO NOT PARK CARS at the Chapter hangar, instead use the airport parking lot. This will enable access for the wedding party and buses.

The Chapter Hangar will return to normal operations, access and parking from noon Sunday.

Thanks! Another very special EAA240 event in progress! Please let me know if you have any questions:
