Cancelling Fly-Out

Sadly, Cancelling Fly-Out Gettysburg – Sunday

With the US President at home in Delaware again this weekend, following his brief bout of COVID-19,  the Secret Service have  again imposed a TFR across the region, forcing the postponement of our planned Fly-Out to Gettysburg on Sunday, July 31st

Our next scheduled Chapter Fly-Out is an overnight at First Flight FFA, Saturday August 6th. Details to follow.

We’ll keep attempting these Chapter Fly-Outs, and we have been successful several times this year as you are aware. But if we can’t fly, we’ll try to arrange some hangar flying at the Chapter, with coffee & goodies, so watch out for the emails and tweets.

Thanks to our Events team who work hard to arrange these Chapter happenings, despite the frustration of  Secret Service or weather disruptions. MP

Gettysburg Fly-Out Postponed

Postponing Fly-Out – New Date
and
Food – this Saturday!

With the President at home in Delaware this weekend the US Secret Service have imposed a TFR across the region, forcing the postponement of our planned Fly-Out to Gettysburg this Sunday, 24th.

We’re putting the Fly-Out back one week, to Sunday 31st as the NEW DATE.

Please re-register with us for this changed flight please. And, pilots, please let us know if you have open seats to accommodate fellow members.

Same arrangements as listed previously: meet at the EAA240 hangar Sunday at 9:30am; Wheels-Up 10:00am.

Meanwhile, this Saturday (23rd), from 9am, we’ll be assembling the Breakfast Grills to test them following their conversion to Natural Gas. As a result we’ll be cooking, and have some breakfast foods to sample. Feel free to stop-in, have a snack and some coffee with us.

Thanks!

Fly-Out to Gettysburg PA

Join us Sunday, July 24th for a trip to W05, Gettysburg Regional Airport, located ~70 miles west of N57!  The plan is to kick off our visit by walking the hallowed grounds of Gettysburg National Cemetery and take a moment or two to reflect on those who, as Abraham Lincoln said in his Gettysburg Address, “…gave the last full measure of devotion.”  Transportation for our visit will be a nominal, shared fee.

The cemetery is just yards from our lunchtime plans at Gettysburg’s oldest and most historic house –  Dobbin House Tavern – built in 1776 by Reverend Alexander Dobbin.  Notable fact: The House served as a hospital for wounded soldiers from, both, the North and South.

Register with us for this flight please.  And, pilots, please let us know if you have open seats to accommodate fellow members.

Meet at the EAA240 hangar at 9:30am; Wheels-Up 10:00am.

Updates will be via email, the Chapter web site, Facebook and Twitter.

Photos for past fly outs are here at the Chapter Photo album page.

Thanks!

New Date – Chapter Fly-Out – Tangier

NEW DATE!

Tangier Island VA – Chapter Fly-Out

Due to forecast adverse weather on Saturday, we’re moving this flight to SUNDAY, July 10th and hope you can join us for a trip to Tangier Island, located in the Chesapeake Bay just below the MD/VA border. It is known for its historic value, unique way of life AND dialect.
Flying is the best way to visit this isolated community, and enjoy the amazing seafood.

The island can be explored quite easily on foot, and has quite a few interesting places worth seeing. The flight there should last about one hour, so we’ll have enough time to explore the island before our 12:00pm lunch at Lorraine’s Seafood Restaurant.

Please re-register with us for this flight on this new date, and let us know if you have open seats to accommodate fellow members.

Meet at the EAA240 hangar Sunday at 9:30am; Wheels-Up 10:00am.

Photo’s from the last time EAA240 visited Tangier are here at the the Chapter Photo album page

Thanks!
