April Membership Meeting

Monday April 4th, 2022

Gather at 6.30pm at the Chapter Hangar & Meeting Room for coffee, snacks, side-bars and hangar flying. Monthly Meeting commences promptly at 7pm in the Chapter Meeting Room.

Guest Speaker and topic this month:

Thorne Harkin – Delaware National Guard C-130H Pilot

Thorne started flying at 12 years old.  He went to school at Marywood University for Aviation Management.  After college, Thorne ran Reading Air school of flight and FBO.  While at Reading, he became the youngest airshow promoter and learned the airshow business.  Thorne was fortunate to get selected as a pilot in the Delaware Air National Guard and currently serves as a C-130H pilot, recently returning from a deployment overseas.

Presentation: Upset Recovery Training

The presentation will help alleviate those fears you may have of those dreaded spins or clear up some misconceptions about slips, skids, and spins. We will be covering many different topics, but will specifically identify how and when we could get into a spin, discuss preventative measures to keep us away from that point, and how to recover from a spin. This one will be a very fun and interactive evening.

Visitors & guests welcomed. We’ll be complete around 9pm.

Great (re)start!

After two years it was such a good feeling to be back in our Chapter Meeting Room and to hold a ‘normal’ Membership Meeting March 14th.
We had a wonderful speaker in Jay Sigmann of Falcon Jets, and were able to update the 30+ members who attended of planned Chapter happenings, our financial status and more.
Members remained long after the meeting wrapped, catching-up with each other and enjoying the camaraderie that EAA240 is known for.

We had two of our 2021 Scholarship Awardees with us, and they reported on their progress – all positive.

We were also joined by several new members who were enjoying their first experience of EAA240 Membership Meetings. Listening to them introduce themselves to the meeting it was evident that we’re adding much talent and aviation enthusiasm to our already rich group. Exciting!

Our next Membership Meeting is Monday, April 4th. We meet for coffee and hangar-flying at 6:30pm, with our meeting commencing at 7pm. All finished by 8:45-ish.

More details at the Web Site Event Calendar and in emails nearer the date.

Questions, feedback, comments, suggestions all welcomed – here please

Pancake Breakfast and Young Eagles

Volunteer Help Needed – Need Some Extra Team Members!

At last! We’re restarting our ‘Increasingly Famous’ Pancake Breakfast fund raisers, beginning Saturday April 23rd (NEW DATE) and we need some additional volunteers to join our Pancake Breakfast team.

We’ll be advertising the event far-and-wide, attracting fly-ins (TFR permitting), drive-ins and our local loyal followers – hopefully including you and your family and friends – to join us for this fun airport and Chapter happening, for the best aviation breakfast in the region.

We’ll be flying Young Eagles on the same dates (TFR and weather permitting), and it can make for a busy morning!

The funds we raise through breakfast sales are critical to our ongoing operations, our Scholarships, our hangar upgrades and so much more. That’s why we have five breakfast events planned up to October, dates are at the Chapter Events Calendar. We also hold breakfasts because they are FUN!

For all of that, and to ensure we offer a great breakfast experience, we need your help. On Saturday 16th we need hangar prep-ers, cooks, preparers, servers, cleaner-uppers and more.

Like to join this fun team, and get to wear an EAA240 Breakfast apron, even for part of the morning? Please volunteer by emailing us here. We’d be pleased to see you with us donating some time to the Chapter, and bring along family and friends to join us for a fine breakfast.

Questions? email us. New to our fund raiser Breakfasts? more information here.

Thanks!

President, EAA Chapter 240
