Chapter Fly-Out Report – Flight for Lunch to Bay Bridge, Maryland
Saturday morning’s weather caused a small delay and resulted in a couple aircraft cancelling, resulting in a shortage of available seats, and sadly we had to leave one member behind.
Still, after waiting for the fog and clouds to lift, three aircraft with eight Chapter members took off towards Bay Bridge W29, arriving just 40 minutes later.
The food at Hemingway’s Marina Restaurant was great and it took some effort to start the walk back towards the airport.
After an uneventful flight back, the planes and passengers arrived at New Garden later in the afternoon.
It was good to welcome pilots and passengers for participating in this event. Looking forward to seeing more of you at future events while we still have good weather.
Have a destination you’d like to propose for our next Chapter Fly-Out? Please let us know.
Saturday, September 18th we have a Chapter fly-out to Bay Bridge (W29) for a 11:30 lunch at Hemingway’s Restaurant on the marina, always a popular destination with good foods and helpful staff. This is also a beautiful flight adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay and the Bay Bridge.
W29 Bay Bridge Airport is a 58nm flight from N57. Meet at the EAA240 hanger at 10:00am, for wheels-up at 10:30am.
We welcome Chapter Members, pilots, planes, and hearty appetites!
Recognizing that we have many new members this year, here’s some additional information: we plan for regular monthly Chapter Fly-Outs as weather conditions and TFR’s allow. All members are invited, and we encourage members to participate and, where possible, offer rides to fellow members without aircraft. The day of the flight we gather at the Chapter Hangar where the Chapter Flight Leader will arrange rides/seats and will share the arrangements he/she has made for our meals and any additional local information (museum’s, trips etc) that have been organized. Flight Planning is the responsibility of each pilot. Chapter Fly-Outs are a great opportunity to meet other Chapter members and to experience Chapter flying. We ask that you register for the event per the instructions below, and we hope you can join us.
Please let Flight Leader Octavian know via email (events@EAA240.org) if you’ll be piloting a plane (open seats and max weight please) or coming along as a passenger (weight estimate please). Please also let us know if you are available to fly Saturday, rain-date Sunday, or both days…pilot or passenger.
Please register for this event by emailing us, as we need to reserve tables etc.
