Passing of Carl Spirito

We’re sad to have to report on the passing this week of Carl Spirito.

Carl was a long time member of EAA240 who contributed not only to the Chapter, but also to regional aviation activities, groups and events promoting flying for all ages.

The CAP had the benefit of Carl’s services for many years, flying from New Castle. Additionally Carl was involved in the local Air Show events at New Castle and elsewhere.

A regular attendance at the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame events brought Carl into contact with many local aviators and aviation organizations.

Always willing to share his love of aviation he would repeatedly offer his plane, time and expertise in giving local youth and children the experience of flight through the Chapter Young Eagles events. As you see in the associated photographs, he provided many, many kids with their first airplane flight….and they were grateful to him for it.

Carl contributed generously at all Chapter activities, as he helped with our Pancake Breakfasts, our meetings and he was a constant at our monthly Chapter fly-outs, offering rides to others in his Piper Cherokee. Always fun to be with he had many airport and aviation friends who will mourn his passing, as do all who came to know him.

Our thoughts and best wishes to his family and friends.
