Fly-Out to Flying W NJ

EAA240 members on a Fly-Out

Hello Chapter Members,

Join us on Saturday, August 3, (Rain Date Sunday August 4th) for a fly out to Flying W (N14) for lunch at lunch at the Patti Wagon Cafe. Click for Menu

Flying W is a unique airport with a resort on site with hotel, pool shaped like an airplane, bar, restaurant, and a golf course.

The airport is directly on the other side of Philadelphia Class B from New Garden.

Flying from N57 to N10 Perkiomen Valley to PNE North Philadelphia to N14 Flying W takes you under and around the Philly Class B and is about a 35 minute flight.

Staying a 3000ft for most of the trip will work until you leave PNE Class D [2600ft] where the Class B floor is 3000 over N14. The whole trip can be done at 2800ft.

KVAY South Jersey Regional airport is right Next to N14 Flying W. Do not confuse the two!

We will meet at The EAA240 Hanger at 10:30am for a wheels up at 11am.

Pilots please list seats and weight available.

Passengers please list your weight.

Penn’s Cave – at last!

Made it! The EAA240 Events Team got to visit Penn’s Cave after many attempts were thwarted by weather conditions. Good job team!

Penn’s Cave, the only cave in Pennsylvania on the National Register of Historic Places, features glittering stalactites and stalagmites, often in mysteriously familiar shapes, such as “The Statue of Liberty” and “The Garden of the Gods.” Dripping water has sculpted magnificent flowstone, curtains, cascades, and draperies against a background of pillars and gigantic columns. Amazing!

Thumbs-Up for Young Eagles & Pancake Breakfasts

Perfect flying weather and the drive for adventure and new experiences brought kids and families to the Chapter and airport this morning.

Over 100 of our ‘Increasingly Famous’ Pancake Breakfasts were served and enjoyed at the Chapter Hangar, cooked and served by the EAA240 team.

Plus, it was ‘Thumbs-Up’ all-round as EAA240 and Brandywine Soaring pilots and ground crews gave 31 kids a fun airplane or glider ride but also some insights on how the aircraft operates. Through their exposure to the flight we hopefully sparked some aviation interest and gave rise to some budding future pilots! From the smiles of the kids I think we were successful!

Many thanks to today’s EAA240 and BSA teams for dedicating their time, expertise, aircraft, cooking skills and for creating a special day for so many of our dining guests, Young Eagle kids and their families. Thumbs-up!
