Chapter Board Meetings – Facility Improvements

Board Meetings have been held in recent weeks to progress the maintenance and improvements to the Chapter hangar. The notes of these meetings prepared by the Chapter Secretary are available here, via the ‘Members Only’ area of our web site, at the Chapter Documents section..

The Board works on behalf of the membership to ensure the optimum use and prioritization of Chapter fund expenditures, which is especially critical now as fund-raising has not been possible for the last 12 months, as a result of the pandemic protocols. Membership renewals for 2021, generous donations by members and funding carry-over from 2020 have enabled us to consider possible improvements to the Chapter facility to ensure it is maintained well and ready for our return to normal operations, hopefully in late summer.

These improvements have, so far, included upgrading the lighting in the hangar workshop area, replacing the water heater and repainting the bathrooms, shower room and kitchen areas. We are also replacing the bathroom doors and the exit door adjacent to the external staircase. The work has been completed by Chapter volunteers, for which we are all grateful, and overseen by our Hangar Manager John Leslie.

The Board will meet again over the coming week to determine if there is a requirement to address the flooring in the kitchen areas, plus possible product solutions (repainting, floor covering or tiling). Formal contractor work estimates and costs are being organized for the Boards consideration. We will keep the membership updated on decisions, solutions and of future projects.

Should you have any questions on these for any Chapter matters please don’t hesitate to contact us here. We will additionally provide updates at each of our Chapter Monthly Meetings, the next session being Monday April 5th. We’ll see you then.
